Kelly Stafford Jokes About Spitgate, Says She’d Prefer if Stafford Was the Target”

Kelly Stafford, wife of NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford, is famous for her direct and often lighthearted opinions on football happenings. On the Week 1 episode of her YouTube show TIMEOUT, she touched on Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in the season opener.

Kelly recalled that it was Carter who tackled Matthew in a matchup that essentially wrecked the Rams’ season last year. Keeping that memory in mind, she admitted she would have preferred Carter spitting on her husband, since that likely would have forced his ejection from the contest.

“I actually went up to Matthew and said, ‘Why didn’t you get in his face before kickoff?’ That’s the same guy who injured him and ruined the Rams’ season. I thought, ‘Man, I wish he (Jalen Carter) had spit on you,’” Kelly said on TIMEOUT, referencing the incident.

Carter was instantly thrown out of the game for his unsportsmanlike act. The NFL hasn’t released an official punishment yet, but a multi-game suspension seems likely. Still, the Philadelphia Eagles handled business comfortably and took down the Dallas Cowboys even without Carter in the lineup.

As for Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams, they’re preparing for their Week 2 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. The Rams are coming off a gritty 14-9 win against the Houston Texans in their opener, hoping to use the momentum to push forward.

Elsewhere, Matthew Stafford and the Rams were locked in action on the turf while chaos erupted in the stands. A viral video showed Texans and Rams fans clashing in an ugly fight sparked by a dispute over seats.

The argument began with female fans but escalated when male fans joined the fray. One Houston supporter who threw early punches ended up with a bloodied nose and had to leave the venue in rough shape. Stadium security quickly arrived and escorted everyone involved out.
