Lions Add Chiefs Safety Soon After NFL Confirms Brian Branch Ban: Report

By signing Robinson, Detroit brings in a safety drafted No. 145 overall by the Panthers in the fifth round of the 2023 Draft.

As a rookie, Robinson participated in 70% of Carolina’s special teams snaps across 15 contests and started two games that season.

In 2024, though, his role was significantly reduced. He appeared in only six games and saw limited usage on both defense and special teams.

Across his two seasons with Carolina, Robinson logged 366 special teams snaps and 75 defensive snaps. He has yet to see game action this year.

Robinson spent two collegiate seasons at and two at . Over 47 games, he amassed 319 total tackles, including 15.5 for loss, along with 16 pass breakups, seven interceptions, three forced fumbles, and one sack.

He notched a career-high four interceptions for Florida State in 2021. During his final college campaign in 2022, he produced 99 total tackles, five pass defenses, and one interception.

While Robinson’s professional experience has largely been on special teams, he may see defensive snaps in his Lions debut on Monday.

Given those circumstances, Robinson might not only see the field on defense in Week 7 but could also be asked to handle extended snaps.

Robinson started for Carolina in Weeks 9 and 10 during his 2023 rookie year, recording a career-high 25 defensive snaps in Week 9. In total, he’s played at least 10 defensive snaps in just four career games.
