Dan Campbell Says Aidan Hutchinson Embodies the Lions and Isn’t Going Anywhere

Lions head coach Dan Campbell says he’s always believed that defensive end Aidan Hutchinson should remain a Lion for life.

Hutchinson finalized a four-year, $180 million contract extension this week, and Campbell explained that everyone within the organization understood it was only a matter of time before a long-term deal was completed.

“We had all the belief in the world that Hutch was staying,” Campbell said. “He represents everything we stand for. He’s productive in every phase of the game. He’s intelligent, instinctive, and gives maximum effort on every snap. He’s one of us. So this was an easy decision—it was just about getting both sides to agree. We’re thrilled. We’d hoped to have it done sooner, but it’s finished now, and we couldn’t be happier.”

Hutchinson, who grew up in Plymouth, Michigan, a Detroit suburb, played his college career at Michigan and could spend his entire NFL journey with the Lions. He’s on track to be remembered as one of the Detroit area’s greatest sports figures, and he isn’t leaving anytime soon.
