$41,000 Dinner? Lions Rookie Panics After Amon-Ra St. Brown’s Wild Prank

Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa has plenty to celebrate after his first NFL season — key touchdowns, late-season momentum, and growing confidence in Detroit’s offense. But one of his most memorable rookie moments didn’t come on the field.

It came at a steakhouse.

And it involved a fake $41,000 dinner bill courtesy of Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Lions Rookie Dinner Turns Into Priceless Prank

Like many NFL rookies, TeSlaa joined fellow first-year wideouts Dominic Lovett and Isaiah Williams in treating the veteran receivers to the traditional rookie dinner — a long-standing NFL custom that often gets expensive.

The group headed to Sexy Steak in Detroit, where St. Brown immediately took charge of the ordering.

According to TeSlaa, things escalated quickly.

“Saint is ordering whatever he wants, asking the server what’s the most expensive thing you got,” TeSlaa told MLive.

Then came the moment that sent panic through the table.

When the bill arrived, it read $41,000.

“We Thought We Were Done”

TeSlaa said the rookies froze.

“Me, Dom, and Meeks are looking at each other like, ‘How are we going to cover this?’” he said. “We’re thinking we’re going to have to call our credit card companies.”

The veterans collected the rookies’ cards, letting the tension build before revealing the truth.

The real total?

Around $4,000.

St. Brown had staged the entire thing as a prank.

Classic Amon-Ra.

More Than a Joke for Isaac TeSlaa

While the moment was hilarious, it carried deeper meaning for TeSlaa.

The former Hudsonville native grew up watching the Detroit Lions. Sitting at dinner with franchise stars felt surreal.

“I used to idolize everyone at this table,” TeSlaa said. “Now it’s just my reality. I’m not star-struck anymore. I’m just part of it.”

That sense of belonging didn’t come immediately.

Confidence Grew as Rookie Season Progressed

TeSlaa admitted the early weeks of training camp were challenging.

“I was nervous coming into camp. I played a little uptight at first,” he said. “But as the season went on, I gained confidence and was able to relax and play better.”

The improvement showed on the stat sheet.

Isaac TeSlaa Rookie Season Stats (2025)

239 receiving yards

6 touchdowns

4 TDs in the final six games

As his confidence increased, so did his role in Detroit’s offense.

A Detroit Dream Becoming Reality

TeSlaa’s journey — from small-school football to meaningful snaps at Ford Field — is exactly the kind of story Lions fans love.

He’s no longer just living the dream.

He’s earning his place.

And thanks to a $41,000 prank that wasn’t real, he got a reminder he’ll never forget:

He belongs in Detroit. 🦁
