Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has recently responded to Keyshawn Johnson’s remarks about him, and after hearing Johnson’s full explanation, he says he’s eager to have a real football conversation with the former NFL receiver.
The Detroit Lions remain one of the most talented squads in the league under head coach Dan Campbell, known for their aggressive defense and explosive offensive style. After an impressive 15-2 record last season, the team hasn’t been quite as dominant this year, entering Week 10 with a 5-3 record ahead of their matchup with the Washington Commanders. Still, with Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Sam LaPorta, the Lions’ offense is capable of lighting up any scoreboard.
.Williams’ start to the season was slower than expected, and he expressed frustration earlier on about not being targeted enough. Through eight games, he’s totaled 21 receptions for 355 yards and three touchdowns. His public comments drew a response from Keyshawn Johnson, who cautioned the young receiver against airing those frustrations publicly.
At first, Johnson’s comments appeared critical, but he later clarified his stance, explaining that his intention wasn’t to call Williams out. Instead, he wanted to reassure him that the Lions’ coaching staff — particularly Dan Campbell and offensive coordinator John Morton — wouldn’t overlook his talent.
“I’ve known Dan Campbell since our playing days,” Johnson said. “I also know John Morton from our time at USC. Those guys will make sure you get your opportunities.”
