Former President Donald Trump is set to attend Sunday’s NFL matchup between the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions in Landover, Maryland, as part of the league’s annual “Salute to Service” tribute for Veterans Day.
According to The Athletic, Commanders president Mark Clouse said the team is “honored to welcome President Trump” as they join the NFL-wide effort to recognize the commitment and sacrifice of America’s veterans, active-duty service members, and their families.
Trump, known for his enthusiasm for sports, will reportedly watch the game from team owner Josh Harris’ suite, as first reported by Pat McAfee.
Detroit linebacker Trevor Nowaske told The Detroit Free Press that playing in front of a former president will be a memorable experience. “That’s awesome,” he said. “I didn’t know he’d be there, but that’ll definitely be something I can tell my kids one day — that I played in front of the president.”
