The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense stole the spotlight in Week 11, shutting down Jared Goff and frustrating the Detroit Lions’ offense.
The Lions entered the matchup with aspirations of another playoff run in the 2025 NFL season, but their showing on Sunday Night Football may have raised concerns — especially after being contained by a Philadelphia team fresh off a Super Bowl win earlier this year.
Although the Eagles are typically recognized for their star-powered offense featuring Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and Saquon Barkley, it has been their defensive unit that has stepped up lately and shown championship-caliber strength. That trend continued as Philadelphia bottled up Goff and kept Detroit from finding a rhythm.
Goff delivered one of his toughest outings since arriving in Detroit, largely because Vic Fangio’s defense applied constant pressure. The Lions managed only nine points, their lowest total in a regular-season game since October 2023, when they scored six against the Ravens.
Goff completed just 39% of his passes, one of the worst completion rates any NFL quarterback has recorded since 2005, as Detroit fell to 6–4 on the year.
