Kelly Stafford Prolongs Hiatus From ‘The Morning After’ to Prioritize Family as Matthew Stafford Tackles Intense Rams Season

Kelly Stafford has decided to extend her pause from The Morning After, her weekly podcast, in order to dedicate more time to her family as her husband, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, pushes through an intense NFL season.

In a recent Instagram update, Kelly explained that she feels drawn back toward her “roots,” which for her means investing her energy into the people closest to her. She wrote that with Matthew navigating a demanding stretch of the season, she wants to be fully present for him and for their daughters, focusing her attention at home.

Her most recent new episode aired on October 2, during which she revealed she’d be stepping away for a while because of mental-health needs and ongoing changes related to the show. At the time, she told listeners that she needed room to reassess her direction and emphasized that she wasn’t ending the podcast—just taking time to regroup.

In today’s message to her audience, Kelly reflected on why she created the show in the first place: to give other mothers a place where they could feel understood, especially when social media often paints unrealistic pictures of perfection. She credited the podcasting space with helping her grow personally and supporting her family in meaningful ways.

Kelly made it clear that this isn’t a farewell, but rather a temporary break. She expressed excitement for the eventual future of The Morning After and thanked her listeners for standing by her through every transition and challenge.

She also noted that Matthew is performing exceptionally well this year, with many analysts viewing him as a top MVP contender. The Rams currently lead the NFC with a 9–2 record.
