Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown Leaves Loss to Packers With Ankle Injury, Status Uncertain

Detroit Lions standout receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown headed to the locker room with an ankle issue and was ruled out early in the second half of Thursday’s 31–24 defeat to the Green Bay Packers.

After the game, head coach Dan Campbell said the injury does not appear to be a long-term concern, though St. Brown could still be sidelined for a short stretch.

“I’ll have a clearer picture tomorrow,” Campbell told reporters. “I don’t think this is something that’s going to linger for a long time, which is encouraging. But that doesn’t mean he’ll be ready right away. We’re talking maybe a week or two if things go well.”

St. Brown went down with 6:19 left in the opening quarter. The play occurred while he was locked up with safety Xavier McKinney and teammate Trystan Colon-Castillo accidentally rolled into the back of his legs. St. Brown made his way off the field on his own, though he was visibly limping.

A two-time All-Pro, St. Brown entered the matchup leading the team with 75 catches, 884 yards, and nine scores. He was targeted only once before exiting and did not record a reception. Detroit formally ruled him out early in the third quarter.

The Lions are already missing tight end Sam LaPorta, who is out for the season with a back injury. Losing St. Brown would further thin the receiving options for quarterback Jared Goff, likely elevating Jameson Williams and running back Jahmyr Gibbs into primary roles. Williams had already found the end zone by the time St. Brown was ruled out.

Detroit now must wait for additional evaluations to determine the severity of St. Brown’s ankle injury.
