Meet Kelly Stafford: Matthew Stafford’s Wife and Her Life with the NFL Star

Matthew Stafford, quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, shares his life with his wife, Kelly Stafford, whom he has been with since college. The couple met while attending the University of Georgia and tied the knot in 2015. Together, they have four daughters: twins Sawyer and Chandler, followed by Hunter and Tyler.

The couple often expresses the importance of family in their lives. Matthew told PEOPLE in February 2022 that he wouldn’t be where he is today without their support. Similarly, Kelly celebrated his 35th birthday on Instagram, calling him her “rock” and emphasizing the value of having a dependable partner.

College Sweethearts

Matthew and Kelly first connected at the University of Georgia, where Matthew became the first true freshman quarterback to start for the Bulldogs since 1998. Kelly pursued a nursing degree and became a registered nurse in 2014, sharing her success on Instagram.

Marriage and Family Life

After several years of dating, the couple married in April 2015. Kelly frequently reflects on their wedding day and their life together on her podcast, The Morning After, calling Matthew a loving husband and devoted father. In April 2025, on their 10th wedding anniversary, she shared advice about growing together as a couple and adapting to life’s changes.

The Stafford family includes four daughters: twins Sawyer and Chandler (born in March 2017), Hunter (August 2018), and Tyler (June 2020). Kelly often shares glimpses of their family life on social media, and all four daughters have been seen cheering Matthew on at football games.

Family Ties to the NFL

Kelly has her own connections to football. Her brother, Chad Hall, is currently an assistant quarterbacks coach for the New York Giants and previously worked with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills. He also played in the NFL as a wide receiver from 2011 to 2013 with the Philadelphia Eagles, 49ers, and Chiefs.

Health Journey

In 2019, Kelly revealed she had been diagnosed with a benign brain tumor called an acoustic neuroma. She underwent a 12-hour surgery that successfully removed the tumor, sharing her recovery journey with her followers on Instagram.

Podcasting and Personal Projects

Kelly launched her podcast, The Morning After, in September 2021. Initially a solo project, she later added reporter Hank Winchester as a co-host. In October 2025, she announced a temporary break from the show to prioritize her mental health, emphasizing the importance of community, support, and self-care.

Standing by Matthew

Kelly has been a vocal supporter of Matthew, especially during moments of criticism. After the Rams’ 2022 Super Bowl win, she defended him on Instagram, urging fans to let him enjoy his success and dismissing debates about his Hall of Fame eligibility. She also celebrated their victory with affectionate posts, calling him “My Champion.”
