Matthew Stafford has been steering the Los Angeles Rams toward another postseason run, and his wife, Kelly, has been right beside him. But the couple recently assisted someone else off the field too—this time in the romance department.
FOX Sports personality Charissa Thompson revealed on her Calm Down podcast with Erin Andrews that her two-year relationship with Los Angeles businessman Steven Cundari only began because the Staffords intervened. According to Thompson, the couple flat-out told her that her dating choices had become painful to watch.
She joked that Matt and Kelly were “tired of seeing me date losers” and believed she deserved a partner whose ambition and lifestyle aligned with her demanding career, which takes her around the NFL all season. The Staffords ended up introducing her to Cundari, complete with what she described as a detailed scouting report.
Thompson said the match clicked immediately. Everything from the first meeting to the deeper background checks passed with flying colors—she even joked that she has learned his Social Security number and banking details, telling Andrews that this was when she knew “everything was good.”
Cundari is well known in the Los Angeles business scene as a marketing strategist, venture partner, and early-stage investor focused on scaling consumer brands. His profile outside the business world grew after he began dating Thompson, one of FOX’s most recognizable NFL hosts whose work spans pregame coverage, red carpets, and feature segments.
Recently, Thompson posted her family’s game-day outfits during the Rams’ narrow 21–19 win over Seattle—a victory that pushed Los Angeles to an 8–2 record and kept Stafford firmly in the MVP race.
The Rams quarterback has been one of the league’s most productive players in the 2025 season, throwing for 2,557 yards (sixth in the NFL) and a league-leading 27 touchdowns. He has just two interceptions, tied for 42nd, and his 68.7 QBR sits sixth overall.
Oddsmakers currently list Stafford as the MVP favorite at +135, ahead of Drake Maye (+175), Josh Allen (+450), Jonathan Taylor (+750), and Patrick Mahomes (+2000). Beyond football and matchmaking, the Stafford family continues to make an impact through charitable work.
Matthew participated in the Rams’ annual Kickoff for Charity brunch this year, an event that gathers players, alumni, and supporters. Meanwhile, Kelly remains dedicated to helping children and families through the SAY Detroit Play Center—an initiative she supported throughout Stafford’s 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions.
