Replay review erased what looked like a Detroit safety, but the Cowboys still ended up punting from deep in their own end zone. The Lions capitalized on the favorable field position, marching 42 yards in six snaps to go ahead 10–3.
Tom Kennedy set up the drive with a 21-yard punt return that placed the ball at the Dallas 42.
The key moment came when Jared Goff connected with Amon-Ra St. Brown for a 26-yard gain down to the Cowboys’ 8-yard line. Jameson Williams followed with a 7-yard run to the 1, and Jahmyr Gibbs finished the job, helped by a strong clearing block from lineman Tate Ratledge on Sam Williams.
Through one quarter, Detroit holds a 93–41 edge in total yardage.
Goff has completed 7 of 10 throws for 76 yards, while Gibbs has totaled 18 rushing yards on three carries and added 32 more on three receptions.
Dak Prescott has started 5-for-7 for 33 yards.
Detroit also announced that safety Thomas Harper will not return after being inadvertently struck in the head by George Pickens’ thigh.
