Detroit Lions Executive Reveals Unexpected Exit

The Detroit Lions organization is facing yet another significant change, this time within its executive leadership team.

Team President and CEO Rod Wood has revealed his decision to step down and retire, prompting the franchise to initiate an immediate search for a successor.

In his farewell remarks, Wood expressed gratitude to the Ford Family and reflected positively on the progress the franchise has made since he joined more than a decade ago. He shared appreciation for the opportunity to guide the team and emphasized his confidence in the leadership structure he leaves behind, specifically pointing to Sheila Hamp, Brad Holmes, and Dan Campbell.

Hamp, who serves as Principal Owner and Chair, praised Wood’s years of service, highlighting his influence not only within the franchise but also across the National Football League. She noted that his leadership has helped position the organization for continued success. Although acknowledging that his presence will be missed, Hamp confirmed the team will collaborate with Russell Reynolds Associates to identify a new leader to oversee business operations moving forward.
