Steelers Weigh WR Options Amid Darius Slayton’s Injury Concerns Ahead of Trade Deadline

Steelers Strategize WR Trade as Deadline Looms, Considering Slayton’s Status

As the NFL trade deadline nears, the Pittsburgh Steelers face a pivotal decision. Despite aiming to bolster their wide receiver corps, New York Giants’ Darius Slayton, one of their top targets, left Week 9’s game for a concussion evaluation. Now, the Steelers must assess whether the risk of acquiring him aligns with their roster needs.

Injury’s Impact on Potential Trade

Slayton, noted for his 100-plus yard performances in Weeks 5 and 8, could strengthen the Steelers’ offense. However, with concussion protocols pending, Steelers’ GM Omar Khan must weigh the uncertainty of his availability.

Slot Receiver or Deep Threat?

Pittsburgh’s search may lean toward a slot receiver, given recent connections to Cooper Kupp and Christian Kirk—both slot-focused players who could provide versatility. While Slayton has mostly been an outside target, Carolina’s Adam Thielen and other slot receivers could offer solutions in this area.

With less than 48 hours left before the NFL trade deadline, the Steelers are set to make a critical choice that could shape their season’s trajectory.
