The Lions started their season by playing their first seven games indoors and compiling a 6-1 record that proved they could handle controlled environments.
However, there were doubts about how they would perform outdoors in tough weather conditions before Sunday’s game in Green Bay.
It turned out that those worries were unnecessary for the NFC North frontrunners. After allowing an early field goal, the Lions responded with 24 unanswered points,
securing a 24-13 victory that included 124 rushing yards, no offensive turnovers, and a pick-six by safety Kerby Joseph.
Following the game, head coach Dan Campbell said the victory highlighted how the Lions are built to win in any type of setting.
“I’m not surprised at all that we came out here and played well in these elements,” Campbell said in his press conference. “We’re made for this, man. It doesn’t matter if we play indoors. It makes no difference.
We can play anywhere—snow, rain, mud. That’s just who we are. We are made to win, man.”
The Lions will play two more games outdoors in the regular season, but those won’t happen until Weeks 16 and 17. If they maintain their current level of play through their first eight games, they could secure the NFC by then, ensuring that any postseason games they play on the way to their first Super Bowl would be indoors.
