Za’Darius Smith and Two Others Rule Out as Lions Start Preparing for Texans

The Detroit Lions started their preparations for Sunday night’s prime-time matchup against the Houston Texans without three key defenders on Thursday.

Linebackers Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle) and Jalen Reeves-Maybin (neck) were both sidelined due to injuries.

In addition, newly acquired pass rusher Za’Darius Smith was given a rest day. Smith, who was traded to the Lions earlier this week from the Cleveland Browns, had been granted a break after playing nine consecutive weeks of football with Cleveland.

The Browns, who are currently on their bye week, did not require Smith’s services, allowing the Lions to give him a few days off to recuperate.

The absence of these three players comes as Detroit gears up for an important game against the Texans, who will provide a tough test on national television.

Despite the injuries, the Lions are hoping to be fully prepared for the challenge ahead.

The team’s focus will remain on making adjustments and strategizing for what is expected to be a competitive game.
