Detroit Lions

Dan Campbell: I’m confident we can defeat any team in the league.

The Detroit Lions are 7-1 and leading the NFC North after recent wins over the Vikings and Packers. With these victories, they’ve solidified themselves as one of the top teams in the NFC, if not the entire NFL.

Their opponents so far have a combined record of 30-29, showing the Lions have faced a competitive slate. Head coach Dan Campbell remains confident in his team’s ability to win against any opponent.

“I feel like we can beat anybody in the league,” he said on Monday, per Paula Pasche of lionslowdown.com.

Offensively, the Lions rank first in points scored, while defensively, they are tied for fifth in points allowed.

Despite losing star defensive player Aidan Hutchinson for the season, the team is expected to make a move for a pass rusher before the trade deadline on Tuesday.

Campbell praised defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn for the unit’s performance, particularly considering the challenges they’ve faced.

“We’ve lost eight key defensive players, and we continue to rise up,” Campbell noted.

“There are areas where we’re not as strong overall, but we’re excelling at the crucial aspects of defense—getting off the field and limiting points.

That’s the essence of good defense, and we’ve earned our success.”

Sunday marked the Lions’ first outdoor game of the season, which they won despite tough weather conditions, including wind and heavy rain.

Looking ahead, the team has just two more outdoor games scheduled, against Chicago and San Francisco in December.

Campbell is confident in his team’s ability to adapt to any environment.

“I truly believe we can perform anywhere, in any kind of conditions,” he said.

“Whether it’s indoors with a large crowd, or in a deserted stadium like the COVID season, we can handle it.

That’s the mindset of this team, and it’s part of our culture and identity.”
