Jamal Adams opens up about emotional phone call with former teammate following Lions deal.
The Detroit Lions have faced numerous injuries on defense but are slowly getting healthier. In the meantime, they’ve had to bring in players to fill gaps while waiting for their starters to recover.
One of those signings was veteran defender Jamal Adams, who made his debut last week against the Green Bay Packers.
Adams saw action on eight snaps for Detroit after joining the team. He recorded one tackle and contributed to a key play that resulted in Za’Darius Smith sacking Jordan Love.
The Lions secured a 34-31 victory, improving their impressive record to 12-1 for the 2024 season.
This Sunday, Detroit faces a critical showdown against the Buffalo Bills. Ahead of the matchup, Adams reflected on his return to the field and shared details of a phone call with former Detroit standout Quandre Diggs.
Adams and Diggs were teammates earlier this season with the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans.
“I hit him up like, ‘Man, I’m going to the Lions!’ He thought it was an incredible opportunity and said the organization is full of great people,” Adams shared via 97.1 The Ticket’s Will Burchfield.
“I told him, ‘Man, I wish you were here with me.’ He was The Guy here. He was drafted here, grew up here, and deserves to be part of a winning culture. But he’s super excited for me.”
