It’s been encouraging to watch the Carolina Panthers’ progress over the last five games.
However, that momentum came to a sudden halt in Week 15 against the Dallas Cowboys at Bank of America Stadium.
For the first time in two years, the Panthers entered a game as favorites.
Unfortunately, they reverted to old habits, showing the same weaknesses that plagued them earlier in the season.
This was especially disappointing given the heightened expectations surrounding head coach Dave Canales’ team.
Carolina was out of the game from the start. The offense couldn’t establish any consistent rhythm, and the defense looked soft, allowing veteran quarterback Cooper Rush to perform like a Pro Bowl talent.
The discipline and execution that defined recent competitive losses were nowhere to be found.
This served as a reality check for fans. The Panthers remain far from postseason contention, and their latest loss underscores the work ahead for general manager Dan Morgan as the pivotal 2025 offseason approaches.
That’s for later. For now, here are four losers and one winner from Carolina’s defeat to the Cowboys in Week 15.

The Panthers’ offensive line has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season.
However, this was not their best performance.
Dallas’ dominant defensive front, led by All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons, quickly took control.
They overwhelmed the Panthers’ protection, keeping quarterback Bryce Young under constant pressure while stifling the rushing attack, leaving Young with no room to operate.
Left tackle Ikem Ekwonu struggled, as did center Cade Mays and left guard Damien Lewis.
Even the typically reliable right-side duo of Taylor Moton and Robert Hunt had difficulties at times.
Hopefully, this performance is just a minor setback.
This unit has shown enough quality throughout the season to warrant some leeway for an uncharacteristically poor outing.
