Ex-Lions Cornerback Hints at Returning to Detroit Amid Defensive Injuries

The Detroit Lions have been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks, with several key players sidelined on both sides of the ball.

The defense, in particular, has been severely impacted, culminating in possible season-ending injuries to defensive tackle Alim McNeill and cornerback Carlton Davis III this past Sunday against the Buffalo Bills and their star quarterback, Josh Allen.

On Monday, a familiar name to Lions fans made a post on X that fueled speculation about a potential return to coach Dan Campbell’s team in Detroit.

“The secret of success is to be ready when your opportunity comes,” Jacobs posted on X, accompanied by three red ‘100’ emojis at 12:47 p.m. ET.

The post quickly garnered over 100,000 views by Tuesday morning, as Lions fans dealt with the aftermath of their 48-42 loss to the Buffalo Bills and their star quarterback on Sunday.

“Come home,” responded the Metro Detroit-based page Woodward Sports to Jacobs’ post.

“You ready? Hear the Lions might be thin at CB!” another fan added.

“Man, please tell me Brad Holmes got you on speed dial. This team needs you, should’ve never cut you to begin with,” another fan commented.

The 5-foot-11, 203-pound former Lions cornerback was released by the Rams this past August. He played three seasons in Detroit, most recently in 2023, when he tallied 55 total tackles, three interceptions, and eight passes defended for Campbell’s squad.
