Shocking injury: Lions’ Amik Robertson breaks arm in playoff loss to Commanders rival.
The Detroit Lions’ season-ending 45-31 loss to the Washington Commanders on Saturday was made worse by a severe injury to cornerback Amik Robertson.
The 26-year-old Louisiana native suffered a gruesome arm injury that required immediate hospitalization and surgery.
The horrific scene of Robertson’s mangled left arm left spectators in shock during the Commanders’ stunning upset of the top-seeded Lions.¹
Robertson’s injury occurred while attempting to tackle Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin on
Washington’s first offensive series. Unfortunately, he collided with teammate Jack Campbell and landed awkwardly, resulting in the severe injury.
Despite Campbell’s efforts to drag McLaurin down, Washington secured the first down.
The Lions’ depleted secondary struggled to contain Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, surrendering 299 yards and two touchdowns.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell acknowledged the impact of Robertson’s injury during an emotional post-game press conference.
“That hurt us a bit, but [Kindle Vildor] came in and played well,” Campbell said. “He competed for us”.²
