. “Amon-Ra St. Brown wasted no time texting Dan Campbell after Commanders’ tough loss.”
The Detroit Lions roster was reeling after a shocking 45-31 playoff loss to the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round.
Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown texted head coach Dan Campbell at 4 a.m. after the game.
“I got a text from St. Brown at 4 o’clock in the morning yesterday,” Campbell shared during his season-ending media session. “I know the loss eats away at certain guys, and they’re the right guys for this team. That’s what gives me hope and reassures me we’ll come back stronger. We’ll learn, improve, and use this as fuel to keep going.”
Detroit’s fourth-year head coach acknowledged the team fell short of their lofty goals, especially as serious Super Bowl contenders.
“I believe when you have the right people and the right mindset, failure makes you stronger,” Campbell said. “Unfortunately, I’ve experienced a lot of that, but it creates hunger. Sustaining success is the real challenge, and what Bill Belichick and New England achieved over the years is incredible. We had goals this year, but we didn’t meet all of them.”
Campbell also admitted the loss personally motivates him and will fuel his drive for the next season.
“We met two of our goals this year and even exceeded expectations compared to last season, but we didn’t advance further, and that’s disappointing,” Campbell said. “It eats at me, but it also drives me and pushes me forward.”
