Lakers’ JJ Redick shares the ‘angry’ factor in their 38-point win against the Wizards

Lakers’ JJ Redick explains the ‘angry’ mindset behind 38-point win over Wizards

Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick was impressed by his team’s dominant 134-96 win over the Washington Wizards, which lifted them to fifth place in the Western Conference with a 27-19 record.

Although the Lakers were without Anthony Davis, they displayed resilience and depth. Rookie Dalston Knecht was ejected after receiving two technical fouls for arguing with officials, but the team remained focused and intense throughout the game.

The Lakers have occasionally struggled against weaker opponents, playing down to their competition. However, when facing the Wizards, the team showed a different approach.

Right from the start, the Lakers aggressively took control of the game, capitalizing on Washington’s struggles. They led by 33 points at halftime and maintained their dominance in the second half, finishing with a 134-96 win. Los Angeles held the Wizards to just 31.9% shooting and scored 37 fast-break points, taking full advantage of Washington’s poor performance. After the game, Redick praised his team’s assertive attitude.

“I asked the guys to play with an edge,” Redick explained. “I thought they did. We were the aggressors. I like that we were angry tonight. We played angry.”

Notably, this was only the sixth time this season that the Lakers won by more than 10 points. The victory also allowed LeBron James, who had 24 points and 11 assists, to rest during the fourth quarter. It was a clear demonstration of the Lakers’ ability to adapt even when missing key players.

Furthermore, the team’s collective effort showcased their potential as they continue to face challenges. They’ll need to bring the same energy when they face the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden next.
