At 25, Luka Doncic Has Reached Milestones Matched by Just 7 Lakers Icons

Only 7 Lakers Legends Have Accomplished What Luka Doncic Has at 25

The Los Angeles Lakers have found their new franchise leader. Luka Doncic, who arrived before the 2025 NBA trade deadline, is set to follow the paths of some of the greatest players in NBA history, sending shockwaves throughout the league.

While it’s too early to predict what Doncic will achieve in Los Angeles, at just 25 years old, he already has a resume that only seven Lakers legends can match.

Doncic arrives in LA as a consensus top-10 NBA player, with a compelling case for top-five status. This claim may seem bold, but with extraordinary stats, legacy-shaping accolades, and postseason success, it’s hard to dispute.

To start, Doncic’s career averages are 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 3.0 three-pointers made per game.

Now in his seventh season, Doncic ranks third in NBA history in points per game, behind only Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain. He also sits 12th all-time in assists per game, just 0.23 behind Steve Nash for the 10th spot.

Even if you think these statistics need more seasons to be fully validated, there’s no denying that only seven Lakers legends can match what Doncic has already accomplished.

Luka Doncic Just One Title Away from Joining Elite Lakers Company

At 25, Doncic is already a five-time All-NBA First Team member. He also claimed a scoring title with 33.9 points per game during the 2023-24 season, immediately followed by leading the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals.

For context, the only Lakers players who have won a scoring title and earned five All-NBA First Team selections are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Wilt Chamberlain, LeBron James, George Mikan, Shaquille O’Neal, and Jerry West.

The seven Lakers legends whose careers align with Doncic’s are among the best players in NBA history. These players were known for their dominant scoring, all-around ability, and frequent All-NBA First Team honors.

Each of them also won at least one championship in Los Angeles, which is the standard for any Lakers great—a standard that Doncic himself acknowledges.

What’s most promising for Doncic is that, at just 25, he’s already achieved significant postseason success. He led the Mavericks to the 2022 Western Conference Finals and, just two years later, took them to the 2024 NBA Finals.

Throughout his postseason career, Doncic has averaged 30.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 1.7 steals, and 3.3 three-pointers made per game.

Having arrived in Los Angeles with a Hall of Fame-worthy resume, Doncic now aims to take that final step toward securing his place in Lakers history. Although it may seem unfair, winning a championship is necessary for a player to reach legendary status in the purple and gold.

Doncic has already come close to championship glory, and if he achieves it with the Lakers, his jersey will surely hang in the rafters.
