However, the team faces key decisions regarding their starting guards. Right guard Kevin Zeitler is set to enter free agency, while left guard Graham Glasgow had an underwhelming 2024 season. These factors leave the Lions with important choices to make.
If the Lions opt to re-sign Zeitler and he agrees to return, they will have stability at right guard, as he performed exceptionally well last season. The left guard position, however, remains uncertain. Detroit could allow Glasgow and Christian Mahogany to compete for the role or explore free agency for a more reliable option. - Zack Martin (Dallas Cowboys): Despite undergoing ankle surgery and being 34 years old, Martin was among the league’s best guards before his injury. If Detroit wants a veteran presence, they could consider signing him on a short-term deal.
- Will Fries (Indianapolis Colts): Also recovering from an injury, Fries would still be a top-tier option if he becomes available. At 27, he is a strong pass and run blocker, making him a valuable asset for any team in need of a guard.
