Christen Goff Discusses Her Favorite Drink on Game Days and Her Affection for Detroit-Style Pizza
It’s finally Super Bowl Sunday, and Christen Harper Goff is preparing for one of the most thrilling times of the year—both on and off the field.
The Sports Illustrated model and wife of Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has spent the season balancing life in the spotlight, supporting her husband’s playoff journey, getting ready for their first child—a baby girl due this summer—and taking game day celebrations to the next level.
This year, Christen teamed up with The Cocktail Collection to showcase the new Crown Royal Whisky Sour with Black Cherry, a pre-mixed drink that brings a crafted cocktail experience to any Super Bowl party.
“It’s honestly such a great way to bring something delicious to game day,” she says. “All my friends who’ve tried it are huge fans, and it’s just a super easy, fun way to make game day even better.”
While Jared won’t be playing in this year’s Super Bowl in New Orleans, they’ll still be traveling to enjoy the big game in person. Whether watching from a suite or hosting at home, Christen believes game day is about good company, great food, and making memories.
“At the end of the day, I feel like that’s the best part of football—just getting everyone together and having fun.”
Christen spoke to Forbes about her favorite hosting tips, her views on WAG culture and football fandom, and the superstar guest she’d love to entertain on game day.
For those who haven’t tried the Crown Royal Whisky Sour with Black Cherry, how would you describe it?
Oh my gosh, it’s so delicious. It’s the perfect balance of sweet cherry flavor with that classic whisky sour taste. I love it. It’s been my go-to all season. Everyone who tries it is impressed because it tastes like a craft cocktail, but it’s so simple to make. You just pour it, and it’s one of those drinks that really impresses people—even though it’s so easy.
What’s essential for a great game day experience?
I’ve loved hosting game days all season. It’s a great way to bring people together, and while I love attending games, there’s something really special about sitting on the couch with friends, enjoying the game, great food, and maybe some delicious drinks.
What I love about the Cocktail Collection is that you don’t have to get up and make drinks for everyone. During a time-out, you can refill someone’s glass. It’s easy, and it’s the perfect game day treat because you won’t miss a second of the game. That’s why it’s been such a staple for me this season—it’s my game day go-to.
I always enjoy a good cheese board. It’s so fun to put together, and you can customize it however you want. On game days, maybe you could shape some cheese into little footballs.
You’ll be in New Orleans for the game, but if you were hosting a Super Bowl party, who’s at the top of your guest list?
Honestly, all you need are your good friends. You want people who bring the right energy. It could be fun to have your own halftime show, so I’d bring back one of my all-time favorite performances—Rihanna’s halftime show from a few years ago. I’d love to have her perform from the couch. She’s everything.
We all know Jared and his amazing career, but you have your own successful career too. How do you balance it?
It’s definitely tricky balancing everything, and I’m still figuring it out. But knowing this season of life is a little crazy helps, and I also know it won’t last forever. So, I try to soak it all in and enjoy it. I love having my own projects while supporting Jared.
It’s fun because we get to work as a team sometimes and also pursue our own interests. I’m grateful that we both have that balance, and when we come together, it’s even better. It’s hectic, but it’s fun.
Were you always a football fan?
Growing up, I always watched the Super Bowl. My best memories as a young girl are watching it with family and friends, gathering for the big game. But I didn’t follow football closely.
I was a cheerleader, so I knew the basics, but it wasn’t my favorite sport. My brother played hockey, so I spent a lot of time at ice rinks. But it’s been really fun learning more about football, especially now that I’m seeing it up close.
How has being married to an NFL quarterback influenced your view on football fandom?
I didn’t realize how passionate football fans are until I got the chance to experience it firsthand being married to a player. It’s amazing to see how deeply people invest in football. It’s so much fun being in a city like Detroit, where people really care about football—it’s a huge part of life here.
What I’ve learned is that football is more than just a game on TV. It’s a reason to build community, to get together with friends, to root for the same team, and to feel like part of something bigger. It’s really fun to be part of that.
WAGs have become an important part of the football scene. How do you see yourself in that world?
It’s such an exciting time to be a WAG, as people like to call it. There’s a whole new generation of women and young girls getting excited about football and sports in general. There’s a lot happening in this space, which makes it really exciting, and it’s fun to shine a light on what women are doing.
I love giving female fans something to get excited about—what we’re wearing to games, how we’re traveling there, and the fun moments with our teammates. It’s fun to share that side and give new fans something more to enjoy, aside from just the game itself.
