LeBron James shared his enthusiasm about the Los Angeles Lakers’ recent acquisition of Luka Doncic, dismissing the idea that the move was intended to prolong his career.

At a press conference during All-Star weekend, James emphasized the positive impact Doncic brings to the Lakers as they gear up for an important stretch of games. Currently, the team holds a 32-20 record and sits in fifth place in the Western Conference.

James, a key player for the Lakers, has been stellar this season, averaging 24.3 points, 9.0 assists, and 7.7 rebounds over 48 games. With the team in fifth place in the Western Conference, every game is crucial as the playoffs draw near.

“We’ve only played two games so far, and I think he’s been under a minutes restriction since returning from the calf injury. He hasn’t played since Christmas, if I’m not mistaken,” James explained.

When asked about Doncic’s potential influence on his retirement, James made it clear that his immediate focus was elsewhere.

“No, I haven’t thought about it like that,” James said, responding to speculation about extending his career. “Just the thrill of adding a player of that caliber, a generational talent, to our team—it’s really energized me.”

James remains optimistic about the chemistry that will develop between him and Doncic as the Lakers prepare for the playoffs.

“As Luka continues to get back into form, I think we could be really strong down the stretch. But we’ll have to see,” James noted.
