BYU Defeats Iowa State, Moves On To Big 12 Semifinals
BYU basketball continued their strong run by beating Iowa State in the Big 12 Tournament Quarterfinals. The Cougars triumphed 96-92, marking the highest point total scored against a TJ Otzelberger-led Iowa State team.
Saunders led BYU with 23 points, shooting 6-of-12 from the field. The First Team All-Big 12 selection was flawless from the free-throw line, going 8-of-8.
The Cougars set a new season high with 18 three-pointers, also establishing a Big 12 Championship record for the most in a single game.
This victory marks BYU’s fourth straight win over Top 25 teams, the longest such streak since 1951. With this win, BYU has now won nine games in a row.
The four-point victory sends BYU to the Big 12 Conference Tournament semifinals for the first time in the school’s history.
