Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić has been cleared to play in Sunday’s afternoon matchup against the Phoenix Suns as he recovers from a right ankle sprain. Dorian Finney-Smith, Jaxson Hayes, and Gabe Vincent are also set to return after missing the previous game.

Dončić was initially listed as probable for the game against the Suns. Meanwhile, Finney-Smith and Vincent were considered questionable, while Hayes had a probable designation. Dalton Knecht remains listed as probable for the contest.

LeBron James will remain out for Sunday’s game and is expected to be sidelined for at least another week due to a groin strain. While James is making progress in his recovery, the Lakers are being cautious with the 40-year-old’s return. Rui Hachimura is also unavailable.

The Lakers are currently on a four-game losing streak due to multiple injuries. Despite missing both Dončić and James in their last game, Los Angeles nearly pulled off an upset against the Denver Nuggets but fell short in the closing moments. Austin Reaves and Knecht combined for 69 points in the defeat.

With this recent skid, the Lakers have dropped to fifth place in the Western Conference. The Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves, both on seven-game winning streaks, are closing in. However, Los Angeles is working toward getting healthy and will aim to turn things around against a Phoenix team fighting for a play-in spot. Entering Sunday, the Suns trailed the Dallas Mavericks by 1.5 games for the No. 10 seed.
