Mikaylah Williams Opens Up About What Playing for LSU Means to Her

Mikaylah Williams Shares the Importance of Playing at LSU

In LSU’s victory over NC State, Mikaylah Williams stepped up when her team needed her most. The Tigers advanced to the Elite Eight thanks in large part to Williams’ 19 points and 8 rebounds in a tight win over the Wolfpack.

Sophomore Williams discussed what it means to play for LSU as a Louisiana native. She said, “It’s a really good feeling for me, but first and foremost, I feel blessed—blessed that God has given me the talent and ability to be on this stage, playing basketball alongside some amazing and talented athletes.

As a basketball player on this stage, my goal is to be a role model and inspiration to the people of Louisiana, especially young girls. I want to show them that with hard work, faith in God, and humility, it’s possible to reach the next level. You can play Division I, continue your passion for the sport, and chase your dreams.”

Williams also praised her teammate Aneesah Morrow’s leadership. She stated, “Without Aneesah, we don’t win. We don’t win games. That just speaks to what type of player, leader, and captain she is. She works incredibly hard. She gives everything, and when she does, she expects nothing less than for everyone else to match her level of effort. She’s truly a great leader.”

The LSU Tigers face the UCLA Bruins today at 3:00 pm ET in Spokane.
