Kim Mulkey’s Bold Outfit for LSU’s Elite 8 Clash with UCLA Pays Tribute to Louisiana
LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey made a statement at Sunday’s Elite 8 game against UCLA by wearing attire adorned with Magnolia flowers, the state flower of Louisiana.
The outfit featured a lavender blazer, white pants, and a white shirt.
As she walked past the media at the team’s arena entrance, Mulkey asked, “What’s our state flower?”
Mulkey made waves in the Sweet 16 for wearing a jacket similar to the one Michael Jackson wore in the “We Are The World” music video.
In addition to coaching at LSU, Mulkey hails from Hammond High School and played college basketball at Louisiana Tech University.
The Tigers are facing the Bruins in a 2024 Elite 8 rematch. LSU defeated UCLA 78-69 in the previous year’s matchup. Flau’jae Johnson had a career-best postseason performance in that game, scoring 24 points on 7-of-11 shooting along with 12 rebounds. Aneesah Morrow added 17 points and 4 rebounds, while Angel Reese posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. UCLA is led by first-team All-American center Lauren Betts and All-American honorable mention Kiki Rice.
