Aggies’ Jace LaViolette Breaks Texas A&M Home Run Record

Aggies Star Slugger Breaks School Home Run Record

As Bill King would exclaim, “Holy Toledo!”

After enduring back-to-back sweeps by Alabama and Vanderbilt, Texas A&M finally secured its first SEC win of the season against Kentucky on Friday. Unfortunately, the Aggies couldn’t replicate their success on Saturday and fell to a 1-7 record in SEC play after a wild slugfest in College Station last night.

However, amidst the chaos, there was some thrilling news that fans had been eagerly waiting for – Jace LaViolette has officially broken the Texas A&M Home Run record. The previous record, set by Daylan Holt, was 56 and had stood since 2000, but LaViolette has now surpassed it.

On Saturday night, he went 1-3 with 3 walks, adding a home run in the game against the Wildcats. As for how this impacts his draft stock, LaViolette is at a point where there’s really little left to prove except for securing the No. 1 spot. He is currently ranked No. 2 in the 2025 MLB Draft Prospect Rankings, just behind Ethan Holliday, the younger brother of Jackson Holliday, from Stillwater (Okla.) HS. With LaViolette’s strong start to the season and increased power numbers, it’s very possible he could move up to No. 1 by the end of the draft cycle.

Currently, the Washington Nationals hold the first overall pick, but with a crowded outfield featuring James Wood and Dylan Crews, they might select Holliday for positional fit given their surplus of outfield talent. If that happens, LaViolette is more likely to fall to the Los Angeles Angels at No. 2, a team in need of any talent boost and likely to choose the best available player.

Aggies fans, stay tuned – you’re witnessing what could be the greatest player to ever grace Blue Bell Park.
