Draymond Green Calls Out Grizzlies Star After Warriors’ Victory: ‘I’m Disappointed’
Steph Curry was the center of attention once again on Tuesday night, leading the Golden State Warriors to a 134-125 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum.
Curry dazzled with a 52-point performance, shooting 12-of-20 from three-point range, along with 10 rebounds, eight assists, five steals, and a block. It was a remarkable display from the two-time MVP and 11-time All-Star.
While Curry’s historic outing stole the show, Draymond Green also posted a triple-double in the win, contributing 13 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists, two steals, a block, and a three-pointer.
During the post-game press conference, Green addressed reporters and took a moment to single out Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr.
“I’m disappointed in Jaren,” Green said. “I have a lot of love for him, he’s my Spartan dog.
“He’s too talented to still be getting into foul trouble. It’s time for him to take the next step in that area. His fouls were huge for us. I’m glad he had to go out, but I’m a Jaren fan. I’m always rooting for him, but he can’t keep picking up these fouls. His team needs him on the court.”
In typical Draymond Green fashion, the four-time NBA champion didn’t let his personal connection with Jackson affect his competitive nature. Green played his usual hard-nosed style, even admitting that he was happy to see Jackson exit the game due to foul issues.
However, Green emphasized that Jackson, also a Michigan State alum, is like a little brother to him. Green knows the immense potential Jackson has, which is why he was disappointed with the way the Grizzlies star struggled with foul trouble on Tuesday.
Despite his concerns, Green was pleased to walk away with the win after a hard-fought battle against Jackson and the Grizzlies.
The Warriors now face a tough back-to-back, playing the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets on Thursday and Friday. With Tuesday’s victory, Golden State has moved up to fifth in the Western Conference with a 44-31 record.
