Raiders Move Up, Grab Top Talent In Newest Mock Draft
For much of the lead-up to the draft, mock drafts have linked Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty to the Raiders.
While Jeanty would be a strong addition for Las Vegas, securing Colorado’s Travis Hunter—a standout cornerback and wide receiver—would be an even more impactful start to Pete Carroll’s first draft as head coach.
That’s exactly what happens in NFL Media’s Rhett Lewis’ latest mock draft, which sees Las Vegas trading up from No. 6 to No. 2 overall—swapping with the Browns—to select Hunter.
“This is my first time doing a mock trade, but Hunter is a unique case—he’s the draft’s top prospect at both receiver and corner. The Raiders have major needs at both positions, so they make a bold move to grab a two-for-one talent,” Lewis explained.
As Lewis pointed out, wide receiver and cornerback are both weak spots for the Raiders. Jakobi Meyers is the top receiver, but depth is lacking. At corner, the nickel role—key in Carroll’s defense—is still unresolved.
Debate continues over Hunter’s NFL position. He could give Las Vegas a starting cornerback every snap, while also contributing on offense during pivotal moments.
