AJ Dybantsa Shares Thoughts On BYU Landing Robert Wright III

AJ Dybantsa and Baylor transfer Robert Wright III should be a dynamic duo for BYU basketball.

BYU has locked down Dybantsa’s commitment since last fall. Wright was a recent addition to BYU’s 2025-26 roster after he made a surprising entry into the Transfer Portal.

AJ Dybantsa on Rob Wright: “Pure point guard”

The two give BYU the chance to be one of the top teams in the Big 12 next season and nationally.

Dybantsa is preparing for the Jordan Brand Classic game this Friday night in Washington, D.C. SportsCenter Next asked the five-star prospect his thoughts on pairing up with Rob Wright at BYU.

“Pure point guard. I mean, we played with each other one time at like SLAM, but it’s going to be live—pure point guard,” Dybantsa said on Rob Wright. “He’s a winner. He can get a bucket when he needs to. So it’s a great pickup for us.”

Dybantsa and Wright were teammates at the SLAM Summer Classic in New York City’s Rucker Park in 2023. They were also teammates with Cooper Flagg and VJ Edgecombe.

New stars to help lead BYU basketball

Wright is one of the top transfers in the 2025 portal cycle. Last season at Baylor, Wright averaged 11.5 points, 4.2 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game. He earned Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and All-Freshman Team honors.

Dybantsa is fresh off a performance in the Nike Hoops Summit in Portland, where he scored 24 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field. He also grabbed six rebounds to help Team USA defeat Team World, 124-114.

Dybantsa will arrive on campus at BYU later this month on April 29.
