Kentucky

Kentucky’s new point guard was secured thanks to a pair of former Wildcats.

Two former Wildcats helped Kentucky find its next point guard.

The Kentucky Wildcats landed their point guard for this coming season from the transfer portal, as Pittsburgh transfer Jaland Lowe will play next season in Lexington.

It now sounds like two former UK fan favorites might have played a huge part in the addition.

Lowe’s dad, Marland, has been around grassroots basketball in the Houston area for quite some time helping plenty of players reach the ultimate goal of the NBA.

According to a conversation with WLAP’s Sunday Morning Sports this past Sunday, it appears Lowe’s connection with De’Aaron Fox and Aaron Harrison helped land his son with the Cats.

“It’s wild because he shared his experiences up there at Kentucky, just talking about basketball,” Lowe said about his talks with Fox. “We didn’t know this would materialize. He just talked about how his experience was and how the fan support was unbelievable. He just talked about the BBN and was joking, said, ‘One day you might — this is the type of experience you want to have.’”

That’s when Aaron Harrison helped push the talented guard to Lexington.

“I talked to Aaron Harrison, because he’s obviously from Houston. He said, ‘It’s like nothing you’ve seen before. It’s phenomenal, to say the least. The fans are like none other. They love basketball. They know basketball. Just the experience, man, be ready for it, because it’s real.’”

The BBN has to love to hear that. Two former greats of the Cal era still love the Cats.

Now, let’s hope we can add Lowe to the long list of talented players who have made it to the pros from Lexington.
