Lions Add 3 Players Following Rookie Minicamp, Including Former MSU Defensive Lineman

Following the conclusion of their rookie minicamp, the Detroit Lions have added three new players to the roster and released another. The team signed defensive lineman Raequan Williams, wide receiver Malik Taylor, and tight end Luke Deal.

Williams, who made a name for himself at Michigan State, brings NFL experience after previous stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Carolina Panthers. Taylor, originally from Flint, Michigan, played at Ferris State before spending time with the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets, and first entered the league with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019 as an undrafted free agent.

Deal, a former Auburn tight end and two-time team captain, joins the Lions after going undrafted. He played six seasons in college before earning a minicamp opportunity with Detroit.

In a corresponding move, the Lions released tight end Caden Prieskorn. A Michigan native, Prieskorn played college football at both Memphis and Ole Miss, tallying 14 touchdowns over his final three seasons.

Heading into the day with two open roster spots—one of which was created by an international player exemption for draft pick Ahmed Hassanein—the Lions’ roster now sits at the 90-player limit after the signings and waiver.
