Lions Set for Challenging NFL Season with Numerous Prime-Time Games

The NFL has unveiled the 2025 season schedule, revealing that the Lions are slated for several prime-time appearances.

Detroit begins the season on the road on Sept. 7 at 4:25 p.m. against the Green Bay Packers, then returns to Ford Field for its home opener on Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. against offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears.

The Lions enter the prime-time spotlight in Week 3 with an 8:15 p.m. Monday Night Football clash versus the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 22.

They’re back under the lights on Oct. 12 in Week 6 at 8:20 p.m. with a road game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and again in Week 7 at home versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., before entering their bye week.

Staying in the national spotlight, the Lions return to Sunday Night Football on Nov. 16 for a road game at 8:20 p.m. against the Philadelphia Eagles. They’ll also play their annual Thanksgiving game at home on Nov. 27 at 1 p.m., followed by an Amazon Prime Thursday night game on Dec. 4 at 8:15 p.m. against the Dallas Cowboys.

Detroit’s third Thursday appearance lands on Christmas Day against the Minnesota Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Netflix. The team’s Week 18 game in Chicago versus the Bears is a flex match, potentially shifting to prime time if playoff stakes are high.

Detroit’s full 17-game slate includes a home match on Sept. 28 versus the Cleveland Browns at 1 p.m., a road contest at Cincinnati on Oct. 5 against the Bengals at 4:25 p.m., another home game on Nov. 2 against the Vikings at 1 p.m., and a Nov. 9 visit to the Washington Commanders at 4:25 p.m.

They’ll host the New York Giants on Nov. 23 at 1 p.m., travel to face the Rams on Dec. 14 at 4:25 p.m., and then welcome the Pittsburgh Steelers on Dec. 21 at 4:25 p.m.

In total, Detroit is up against what’s considered the second-most difficult schedule in the league for 2025, including 11 games versus 2024 playoff teams and an opponent win percentage of .571 from last season.
