Gonçalo Ramos’ situation at PSG has remained uncertain throughout the summer, keeping alive constant transfer speculation surrounding the Portuguese forward. Although recent signs suggest he may remain in Paris, at least one Premier League side continues pushing to sign him.
Ramos ended the 2024-25 season with 19 goals and six assists across 46 matches. Despite those numbers, questions persist over his chances of holding a regular starting place at PSG, with reports indicating the club still prefer keeping him.
Earlier this month, Caught Offside reported that Ramos’ reduced minutes attracted interest from multiple Premier League and Serie A clubs seeking a reliable goalscorer. Manchester United, Newcastle United, Liverpool, and Aston Villa are all believed to be weighing possible approaches.
Liverpool see Ramos as a future solution, while United reportedly view him as a fallback should other striker targets collapse. Currently, Liverpool’s top priority is Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, but if that transfer fails, Ramos could rapidly move higher up their shortlist.
TBR Football reported on Saturday that Ramos himself is not especially keen on leaving PSG during this window, even though intermediaries have presented his availability to Newcastle.
“Newcastle want a replacement for Alexander Isak and have looked at Nicolas Jackson, Samu Aghehowa and Jorgen Strand Larsen,” TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey explained.
“Now Newcastle are revisiting Ramos, but insiders insist a deal would be extremely difficult for several different reasons.”
Even if Ramos did agree to depart, his wage demands would be close to £200,000 per week—instantly making him Newcastle’s highest-paid player, though the club could financially handle it.
