Newcastle could make a late push for Paris Saint-Germain striker Gonçalo Ramos before the summer transfer deadline, according to MailOnline reporter Craig Hope.
The Magpies remain in the market for attacking signings to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad and have identified Ramos as one of the possible successors to unsettled frontman Alexander Isak.
The Swedish forward is not expected to feature for Newcastle again amid his current transfer situation, with the player determined to complete a switch to Liverpool in the coming weeks.
Newcastle are targeting two centre-forwards before the window closes and are moving closer to securing Brentford’s Yoane Wissa as part of their attacking rebuild.
Newcastle were credited with interest in Ramos earlier this month, and Hope suggests a transfer could still materialise after fresh encouragement surrounding his potential availability.
PSG are reportedly more willing to sanction a permanent exit rather than a temporary loan, and Newcastle are assessing their possibilities following word of his potential sale.
Ramos struck a crucial late leveller for PSG in the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham on Wednesday, before the French side triumphed on penalties.
The ‘clinical’ 24-year-old, who originally joined PSG from Benfica in summer 2023 on loan, featured 41 times for Luis Enrique last campaign, netting 18 goals and recording six assists.
He also appeared five times at the Club World Cup, starting twice, and scored during the 4-0 semi-final victory over Real Madrid.
Newcastle’s recruitment drive has accelerated in recent days, with defender Malick Thiaw completing a permanent switch from AC Milan, and Wissa expected to arrive next.
The Magpies have already added Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest earlier this summer, along with Southampton shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale on a season loan.
