Many Newcastle United Supporters Share Same View on £69m Striker After 20-Minute Cameo | NUFC Feed
Many Newcastle United fans are voicing the same opinion about £69m signing Nick Woltemade after his short but bright cameo off the bench.
Newcastle’s blockbuster summer recruit Nick Woltemade spent most of the evening watching from the sidelines, but when handed his opportunity, he made sure he stood out.
. Eddie Howe continues to ease Nick Woltemade into the side following his £69 million arrival from VfB Stuttgart during the summer window.
The initial plan was for Yoane Wissa to spearhead Newcastle’s attack in the early stages while Woltemade gradually adjusted.
But Wissa, the DR Congo international, suffered an injury while away on national duty just days after sealing his Magpies transfer, which forced Howe to accelerate Woltemade’s involvement.
Howe is still treating Woltemade cautiously, with Will Osula starting ahead of him against Bradford tonight and netting twice to strengthen his own case.
However, once Woltemade entered the pitch for Anthony Gordon at the 68th minute, he ensured Howe noticed his quality, and Newcastle supporters took note as well.
Fans flooded social media with praise for the German attacker’s link play. The word “unique” appeared frequently in their posts, and it’s a very fitting description.
Although Woltemade was bought primarily as a striker to score goals, his creative ability in attack could prove just as valuable as his finishing touch.
His skill to bring the ball under control, shield it effectively, and deliver perfectly timed passes is outstanding. And despite his tall frame, his close control is exceptional.
Perhaps it’s premature to overhype him after such a short stint, but optimism is high. Nick Woltemade looks destined to become a huge figure for Newcastle.
