Detroit’s offense struggled early on Thanksgiving but found momentum after falling behind 10-0.
David Montgomery finished off a 10-play, 65-yard drive with a three-yard touchdown run out of a Wildcat formation, cutting Green Bay’s lead to 10-7 with under eight minutes remaining in the first half.
Montgomery carried the ball on the final three plays of the series, but key contributions came from his teammates. After a quiet first quarter with no completions, Jared Goff connected with Jameson Williams and Tom Kennedy on passes exceeding 20 yards, and Jahmyr Gibbs added an 18-yard burst on the ground.
The Lions had already lost star wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown to an ankle injury on their second possession, but as halftime nears, there are encouraging signs that the passing game can still make an impact.
