Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell couldn’t hide his excitement after hearing that Frank Ragnow is returning to the team—news that arrives at an ideal moment as Detroit pushes for a playoff spot.
Ragnow’s comeback comes as a surprise. The veteran center stepped away from football back in June, saying the grind of the sport and the desire to prioritize his family pushed him to retire after seven seasons, all spent in Detroit.
But it turns out walking away wasn’t so easy. After only four months, Ragnow felt the pull of the game again and chose to resume his career. It’s reminiscent of Michael Corleone’s famous line from The Godfather: “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.”
Campbell, naturally, was fired up to welcome the 29-year-old lineman back into the fold.
