Kevin Durant’s Cowboys Critique Adds Extra Heat to NFL Rivalry

Due in large part to Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, a well-known rivalry takes center stage as the Dallas Cowboys get ready for their season opening against the Cleveland Browns.

Asked which team he would eliminate from the league, Durant, an avid supporter of “Washington’s NFL team” for his entire life, didn’t mince words. He said, “Cowboys, no question,” on the “Up and Adams Show” with Kay Adams. “I just don’t like them.”

Many Commanders supporters, who have long considered the Cowboys to be their bitter enemy, probably feel the same way Durant does. Although many Cowboys fans despise Washington, the sentiment isn’t always shared.

Under Jerry Jones’ direction, the Cowboys have numerous rivals throughout the NFL, ranging from the 49ers to the Eagles and Steelers.

But there’s still more! The Cowboys’ “rivals” include a number of teams, including the Packers and even the Vikings.

This is just a fact of life for one of the most well-known and prosperous sports businesses. In 1989, Jones became the Cowboys’ owner and has since become a dominant force both on and off the field.

His audacious actions, which included arranging the trade for Herschel Walker and dismissing illustrious coach Tom Landry, laid the groundwork for the team to win three Super Bowls in the 1990s.

By winning exclusive alliances and large stadium sponsorship deals with Pepsi and Nike, Jones dramatically transformed NFL business processes and turned the Cowboys into a financial powerhouse.

The Cowboys are still the most valuable team in the NFL despite not winning a Super Bowl since 1995; their projected value of $11 billion in 2024 is evidence of Jones’ astute business sense.

The Cowboys’ reputation as maybe the biggest brand in sports is further evidenced by their capacity to incite rivalries from almost every team in the league, including the Chiefs, simply because they formerly had a presence in Dallas.

“It’s probably 75 percent of people in Washington, DC, that are Cowboys fans,” added Durant.”I just hate that they don’t stay loyal to the crib.”

As the Cowboys get ready for their season opening, there are many more important issues to attend to than Kevin Durant’s remarks.

The Browns, who have one of the best defenses in the NFL, will host Dallas in Cleveland.

The Browns’ defensive line, led by 2023 Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, is renowned for its intense aggressiveness and constant pressure.
