The Pittsburgh Steelers have been hit hard by injuries all season, and their latest setback comes in the form of an injury to starting center Zach Frazier. The second-year offensive lineman was notably absent from a recent practice session due to a triceps injury, casting doubt on his availability for the team’s crucial Week 16 matchup against the Detroit Lions.
Frazier, who has started at center for most of the season, was listed as a “did not participate” on the Steelers’ latest injury report after pulling up in practice. His absence forced backup center Ryan McCollum into first-team reps as Pittsburgh scrambled to maintain continuity on an already depleted offensive line.
The triceps injury to Frazier adds to a growing list of offensive line concerns for the Steelers. Left tackle Broderick Jones has been shelved with a long-term injury, and fellow guard Isaac Seumalo was also listed as limited with his own triceps issue. Additionally, veteran Andrus Peat remains in concussion protocol, further straining Pittsburgh’s depth up front.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has not publicly detailed the severity of Frazier’s triceps injury, and the team’s game-day status will likely hinge on how he participates later in the week. Frazier himself remained optimistic in locker room comments — but optimism does not always translate to game availability.
With playoff positioning on the line and a physical game against Detroit looming, losing Frazier would be another major blow to Pittsburgh’s hopes. The team will monitor his progress closely in practice over the coming days to determine whether he’ll suit up in Week 16.
