Detroit Metro Airport became the scene of a bizarre and alarming episode Friday night when a car drove directly into the McNamara Terminal, crashing near the Delta Air Lines ticketing area around 7:30 p.m. local time. The airport is located in Romulus, just outside Detroit.
Authorities quickly apprehended the driver, who was reportedly wearing a Detroit Lions Amon-Ra St. Brown jersey at the time of the incident. Officials with the Wayne County Airport Authority are still investigating what led to the crash.
St. Brown, known for being highly engaged with fans online, addressed the situation on social media with a brief, four-word reaction that quickly circulated among fans.
Fortunately, the situation did not result in any serious injuries, and airport operations continued without disruption. While six individuals were evaluated by medical personnel on-site, all were treated as a precautionary measure.
St. Brown Previously Criticized Lions Fans Over Offensive Coordinator Hire
This isn’t the first time recently that St. Brown has sparked conversation among Lions fans. Following Detroit’s decision to bring in former Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing after parting ways with John Morton, some fans voiced strong skepticism about the move.
St. Brown responded to the criticism on his podcast, urging fans to trust the organization’s leadership. He questioned why supporters were so quick to doubt the decision-making process under head coach Dan Campbell, emphasizing that coaching hires aren’t made without extensive evaluation.
He went on to suggest that many critics lacked a deep understanding of football, which only fueled backlash from portions of the fanbase. While he reiterated his appreciation for Lions supporters, he encouraged them to stay patient and allow the situation to develop before rushing to judgment.
Lions Fall Short in Disappointing 2025 Campaign
Detroit entered the 2025 NFL season with lofty expectations after dominating the NFC North for two straight years and finishing 15–2 in 2024. Despite that momentum, the Lions ended the season 9–8 and failed to secure a playoff berth, marking their first postseason absence since 2023.
A series of injuries along the offensive line and uneven performances played a major role in the team’s regression. In response, the organization has already begun reshaping its staff and roster. Morton was dismissed after losing play-calling responsibilities during the season, and veteran offensive lineman Dan Skipper announced his retirement from professional football.
With significant changes underway, Detroit appears focused on regrouping and resetting expectations heading into the future.
