Detroit’s presence at the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend is getting bigger by the day, and the city is quickly becoming one of the event’s most visible contributors in Los Angeles.
The All-Star festivities will take place Feb. 13–15 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, hosted by the Los Angeles Clippers. The Detroit Pistons are already well represented, with star guard Cade Cunningham and the entire coaching staff heading west after leading the Eastern Conference standings.
Now, Detroit’s influence is expanding beyond the NBA. On Friday, it was announced that Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown will participate in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on Feb. 13, officially kicking off the weekend.
St. Brown will share the court with Los Angeles Chargers wideout Keenan Allen in the annual exhibition. One team will be coached by Dodgers standout Mookie Betts, while rapper GloRilla and producer Mustard — both with strong Los Angeles ties — are also set to compete.
For St. Brown, the appearance carries added meaning. The three-time All-Pro grew up in Southern California, starred at USC, and later entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick in the 2021 draft. Since then, he has become one of the central figures in the Lions’ rise, recording four consecutive seasons with more than 100 receptions and over 1,100 receiving yards.
NFL players have historically made strong impressions in the Celebrity Game, with stars like DK Metcalf and Micah Parsons earning MVP honors in recent years. While St. Brown may not have the same size advantage, his athleticism and passion for basketball make him a compelling addition.
He’s also been a familiar face at Little Caesars Arena, regularly attending Pistons games as the franchise has rebuilt into a contender.
When St. Brown first arrived in Detroit, the Pistons were coming off five straight losing seasons. Since hiring head coach J.B. Bickerstaff in 2024, however, the team has surged into elite status and now looks poised for a deep postseason run.
Cunningham earned his first career All-Star starting nod this season, and because Detroit finished January with the best record in the East, Bickerstaff and his staff will coach one of the All-Star teams.
With the weekend approaching, it’s increasingly clear that Detroit will have a major footprint in Los Angeles — spanning the court, the sidelines, and even the Celebrity Game.
