The Detroit Lions are entering the 2026 NFL offseason looking to rebound after a disappointing year. Despite winning 15 games in 2024, the Lions failed to reach the playoffs in 2025, raising questions about whether their Super Bowl window in the Jared Goff era is closing.

With pressure mounting, Detroit could make a bold move by targeting a superstar defender. One name drawing heavy interest is Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby, who is reportedly unhappy with how his season ended after being shut down early despite wanting to play in the team’s final two games.

Because of that situation, league insiders expect Crosby to be available on the trade market this offseason. Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports recently identified the Lions as a realistic landing spot and projected what it would take to complete a deal.

According to Sullivan, the asking price for Maxx Crosby could be a first-round pick and a second-round pick.

“Crosby is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL, and elite talents like him can command a significant return,” Sullivan wrote. “Green Bay previously sent two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark for Micah Parsons. While Crosby will be entering his age-29 season in 2026, his value should still be close to that level.”

Crosby is currently under contract through 2029, but he has only $30 million in guaranteed money remaining, which becomes relevant in 2026. That structure suggests a trade partner would likely need to negotiate a contract extension as part of any deal.

If the Lions were to acquire Crosby, he would form a dominant pass-rushing duo alongside Aidan Hutchinson, giving Detroit one of the most feared defensive fronts in the NFL.

After a season that fell far short of expectations, the Lions may be willing to pay a premium to restore their championship hopes. Landing a proven elite defender like Crosby could be exactly the type of aggressive move Detroit needs to reestablish itself as a Super Bowl contender.
