Penei Sewell and Jameson Williams Uncertain for Lions; Two Players Already Ruled Out

The Detroit Lions have listed All-Pro offensive tackle Penei Sewell and speedy receiver Jameson Williams as questionable for their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Edge rusher Marcus Davenport is doubtful to play, while safety Ifeatu Melifonwu and receiver Isaiah Williams have already been ruled out.

Sewell missed the first two practices of the week due to an ankle injury sustained in the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams.

However, he returned to practice on a limited basis on Friday, and the Lions are optimistic about his availability for the game.Sewell, who had an All-Pro season last year allowing just one sack, hasn’t missed a snap since his rookie season in 2021.

In Week 1, he allowed only two hits and no sacks.Jameson Williams is also questionable due to an ankle injury from the Rams game.

Although he briefly left the field, he returned to finish with five receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown.

He practiced this week, though limited, and is expected to play despite the injury.

With Isaiah Williams already ruled out due to an abdominal issue, the Lions’ fully healthy receivers are Amon-Ra St. Brown and Kalif Raymond.

They may elevate one or two wideouts from the practice squad, with options including Tom Kennedy, Tim Patrick, Allen Robinson, and Donovan Peoples-Jones.

On defense, Davenport’s groin injury has kept him from practicing all week, and he was unwilling to comment on his status on Friday.
