Speculation has swirled about the Detroit Lions potentially making a splash move for Maxx Crosby, but Aidan Hutchinson isn’t convinced it’s realistic.
Detroit heads into the offseason with important decisions to make after a disappointing 9–8 finish left them at the bottom of the NFC North and out of the playoffs. That outcome could push the front office to consider bold roster upgrades. Still, Hutchinson suggested that a blockbuster trade for Crosby may not align with how the organization typically operates.
In a recent conversation with Casino Guru, Hutchinson acknowledged that lining up next to Crosby would be an exciting possibility. He described the concept as extremely appealing and said sharing the field with a player of Crosby’s caliber would feel like an ideal scenario. However, he also noted that similar rumors surfaced last year involving Myles Garrett, and nothing materialized. Based on comments from the team’s general manager about investing heavily in edge rushers, Hutchinson expressed doubt that Detroit would aggressively pursue such a move.
Crosby has recently been at the center of trade chatter as the Las Vegas Raiders navigate yet another rebuild. The standout defender has previously spoken about his desire to compete for a Super Bowl, raising questions about whether he fits the Raiders’ long-term direction. Because Crosby is a Michigan native and played collegiately at Eastern Michigan University, the connection to Detroit has fueled even more speculation.
The Lions, for their part, have been searching for a high-level edge complement to Hutchinson for several seasons. On paper, adding Crosby would significantly strengthen their defensive front. Hutchinson even revealed that the two occasionally communicate and share mutual respect for each other’s relentless playing style. He praised Crosby’s motor and leadership, especially given the challenges Las Vegas has faced in recent years.
Whether Crosby is ultimately moved during the 2026 offseason remains uncertain. For now, Hutchinson appears content to let the front office handle the business side while he focuses on preparing for the season ahead.
